O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.   Text Psalm 43:3

The Lord desires us to know the truth. And, He says the truth will make you free.  As you are sitting here today, I hope you are saying to yourself…”Lord, help me to know the truth.  Help me to understand what the Bible is
saying, what the word teaches so that I can walk in your word and obey your will.”

Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled.  Matthew 5:6.

Yet, it doesn’t do any good to hunger for the truth and even pray for it, unless we intend to obey it when God reveals it to us.  We’ve got to be willing to obey it when God reveals it to us.    The most presumptious thing that anybody can do is to pray for the truth, and ask God for an understanding of this book.  Then, when He answers that prayer, and shows it to us…if we refuse to walk in it for any reason whatsoever, that is the most presumptuous thing we could ever do.

The greatest favor heaven can ever bestow upon us is to give us a knowledge of this book … God’s word, God’s will.  And, the worst thing we can do, the most presumptuous thing we can do is to refuse to walk in that light when God shows it to us.

Multitudes of people today are trying to pull the Bible down to meet their poor weak experience instead of lifting their experience up to meet the teachings of the Bible.  There is only one great acid test of right and wrong and of truth, and that is the Word of God.  There is no other.

It doesn’t matter what you were taught as children.  It doesn’t matter what the majority of people are doing around you.  It doesn’t even matter what your emotional feelings lead you to think or believe.  Those things are totally invalid when it comes to appraising truth, and recognizing truth.  It is only the Bible that is able to do that for us.

There are many who believe that as long as we are sincere, that God will accept that and understand and He’ll bless us for that, and we don’t have to worry about anything else.  That may sound really nice and high and pious and all the rest of it, but there is one thing wrongwith it… it is not true.  You can be sincere and be sincerely wrong.

As you study God’s Word, pray for not only truth but the strength and willingness to obey those truths God reveals as you study His Word.
